Cruise Origins Spotted in a Warehouse in Michigan

Following the temporary revocation of the robotaxi license in California in California, where an accident caused by a human driver had landed Cruise in trouble over the aftermath of the incident, Chevrolet Bolts have been withdrawn from all depots on the one hand, and the new-style Cruise Origins have disappeared on the other.

Rumor has it that around 150 of the latter have been built, without a steering wheel or driver’s seat, and with up to six passengers sitting opposite each other like in a train compartment.

KREATIVE INTELLIGENZ

Was erleben wir da?

As the Autopian reports, one of its readers, Nick Thomas, has now spotted these cars in front of a warehouse in Grand Blanc in the US state of Michigan, which in the past housed the tool manufacturing facility for General Motors, the Cruise parent company.

It is not entirely clear what will happen to the vehicles now. It is assumed that they will not be used, but that GM will rather install the self-driving technology in the vehicles sold to private customers and possibly no longer resume the robotaxi business. This would mean that the Cruise Origins will find their final resting place in Michigan, and could face a fate similar to that of GM’s ill-fated EV1.

The Autopian article features a series of photos of the warehouse and the vehicles on car transporters from which they are unloaded.
