Cruise Resumes Trips in Phoenix

Eight months after an incident in San Francisco in which a pedestrian was seriously injured and which resulted in the revocation of her robotaxi license, Cruise is resuming its robotaxi rides. For the time being, however, only in Phoenix and with safety drivers in the driver’s seat, as the GM subsidiary explained in a blog.

In recent months, during which CEO Kyle Vogt had left the company, part of the management team had been replaced and redundancies had been made, the company had focused on tightening safety measures in cooperation with the authorities. Operations are now to be resumed step by step in individual cities, with Phoenix being the first city after the complete withdrawal.

Here is another explanation of the incident.
