Waymo And Zoox Expand

The robotaxi wave is unstoppable. After an incident in San Francisco in October, Cruise has now resumed initial test operations in Dallas.

Zoox also announced that, in addition to the test drives in San Francisco and Las Vegas, there will now also be test drives in Miami and Austin. While the new vehicles will soon be used in the first two cities mentioned (see picture), only the test drives with the converted Toyota Highlanders are currently taking place in Miami and Austin.

And Waymo, which already operates commercially in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Austin, has massively expanded its operating area in Phoenix since June 2024. In total, the Robotaxi fleet serves an area of 315 square miles (816 square kilometers) in the Arizona city. By comparison, Stuttgart has 80 square miles (207 square kilometers), Munich 120 square miles (311 square kilometers), Vienna 160 square miles (415 square kilometers), Hamburg 292 square miles (755 square kilometers) and Berlin 344 square miles (892 square kilometers).
