San Francisco is a city of contrasts. On the one hand, one of nostalgia, with which people around the world associate beauty, and on the other, one of high-tech start-ups and internet and computer giants that are based here.
Nothing makes this clearer than the fleet of driverless robotaxis that drive through the dense traffic, which many tourists find absolutely crazy. If you use a Waymo, passers-by are constantly looking and pointing at the cars that are on the road with an empty driver’s seat. And as a counterpart to this are the cable cars, which are one of the highlights as a tourist attraction alongside the Golden Gate Bridge.
I had long wanted to take a photo of this contrasting pair by photographing Waymo next to cable cars, and yesterday I took a little time and went in search of one. I managed to get a few photos, not the best, but still. And I’m sure that other people have taken much nicer photos, but these are mine:





Incidentally, the Waymo Robotaxis service area has been expanded and I already have access to it. The San Francisco metropolitan area has now been joined by the neighboring region up to Daly City.
