Waymo Reaches 100,000 Paid Trips per Week

Just a few weeks ago, in May 2024, Waymo announced that its robotaxis in San Francisco, Los Angels, Phoenix and Austin were making 50,000 paid trips per week, without a driver in the vehicle. This is now ancient history, as Waymo has just announced the achievement of a new milestone: 100,000 driverless and paid rides per week.

This was already on the cards after I recently noticed the high density of Waymos in San Francisco, with an expanded area of operation that now extends beyond San Francisco into the surrounding area as far as Daly City. It is amazing how quickly this expansion is progressing. A doubling in just under 3 months.
