With hundreds of thousands of journeys a week, Waymo is gaining a lot of experience in how driverless robotaxis are used by paying customers. One function allows the destination to be changed once the journey has already started. So far, this has always worked without any problems, but this time things were different.
When confirming the change of destination, a message came up that was different and rejected the update. And the reason was not that I had made such destination changes too often, but that my Robotaxi had to go to the depot or had been called and would go there after arriving at its destination.
