Cybercab’s Induction Charging

At the We, Robot event a week ago, Elon Musk also mentioned that the Cybercab would be charged by induction. Tesla has now released a video showing the process.

Inductive charging makes sense if you want to operate a robot cab without human interaction wherever possible. From driverless driving, to charging the vehicle without a human having to plug in a charging cable, to cleaning the vehicle. For this last point, Tesla’s video also showed robotic arms witnessing the vehicle and cleaning the touch screen.

Induction charging, as presented in this video, makes perfect sense, even if the charging speed is nowhere near that of superchargers.
