TCO of Autonomous Trucks Up to 42% Lower

Autonomous trucks could not only alleviate the driver shortage, but also reduce the costs caused by drivers. This is shown by a new study by McKinsey, which looks at the distances driven. Savings of up to 42 percent are possible, especially for distances of 1,500 to 2,000 miles (2,400 to 3,200 kilometers). For short distances between 100 and 249 miles (160 to 400 kilometers), the savings amount to 13 percent.

Not only do haulage companies save on driver salaries, the vehicles also do not have to take rest breaks and can therefore drive the entire route – except for refueling and loading stops.
