With the increasing number and triumph of electric cars, more and more “exotic” applications of mobility are being electrified. Caravan trailers are no exception. Some time ago, I reported on Pebble and Karoo, whose caravans are equipped with a battery that “pushes along” while driving and regenerates braking energy when braking.
Another competitor called Lightship presented a model at CES 2025 in Las Vegas: the AE.1 Cosmos, which comes equipped with a 77 kWh battery and has an electrically assisted range of 300 miles (480 kilometers). The dry weight comes to 3,379 kilograms (7,450 pounds) and 386 kilograms (850 pounds) of additional load weight. There are also solar panels on the roof.
The trailer is due to go into production at the end of 2025 starting at 250,000 dollars.
