First Driverless Tesla Robotaxi Spotted in Austin

There has been much speculation in recent days as to whether Tesla will officially start operating its driverless robotaxis in Austin. The rumored date was June 12, but then came reports that it had already happened a few days earlier. Now there is the first video of a driverless Tesla turning right at a junction and letting passers-by cross the road.

The inscription “Robotaxi” in Cybertruck font is clearly visible on the black Model Y Juniper used. The second white Model Y Juniper following behind the black Robotaxi Y is also striking. This could be a so-called “chase” vehicle, in which there are Tesla engineers who monitor the driverless vehicle and can take control remotely in an emergency.

This vehicle was spotted at the intersection of 100 W James St. in Austin.
