Waymo’s Zeekr-Vehicle Spotted in Hamburg

The Zeekr vehicle in Waymo’s colors has been spotted outside the USA for the first time. The vehicle seen does not yet have any sensors fitted, but the bulges for the Waymo Driver sensors are already clearly visible.

Here are photos of the vehicle with the sensor setups from the USA for comparison:

This vehicle was spotted by Alexander Kolbai on June 18th, 2025 in Hamburg, Germany. It was at the UITP Summit 2025 around 4:30pm. Waymo was not listed in the list of exhibitors at the conference, and the vehicle only drove up briefly before disappearing again. After all, it wouldn’t make sense for Waymo to exhibit a car that doesn’t yet have any sensors installed. In other words, the car was not part of the conference.

Is this sighting a first indication that Waymo has earmarked Hamburg for the launch of the first robotaxi fleet in Europe? The vehicle appears to have a German environmental sticker (after all, it is an electric vehicle), but the license plate RBW49N does not correspond to the usual German license plate structure. Unfortunately, the blue field does not indicate which EU country the vehicle comes from.
