Tesla Robotaxis in Austin With Safety Engineer in the Passenger Seat

On this Sunday, July 22nd, Tesla’s driverless robotaxis are scheduled to begin service in Austin, and the day before, several Model Y Junipers were spotted without a chase vehicle as before, but with a safety engineer in the passenger seat. As of Sunday, it is rumored that 10 Tesla Model Ys will initially be on the road as driverless robotaxis.

In the following video (originally posted here), several Model Ys with the words “Robotaxi” on the side doors can be seen stopping at the same traffic light-controlled intersection, allowing pedestrians to cross the road and then turning or continuing straight ahead.
