After the bumpy start sttempt of a robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, where there were a number of incidents, Tesla has now started testing its “Robotaxi” app in the San Francisco Bay Area – home of the Fremont factory – following several announcements of an imminent launch of the robotaxi service.
This app can be used to order Teslas with a driver. The service area covered stretches from San Francisco in the northwest and Berkeley in the northeast down to San Jose and, with a lot of imagination, looks a lot like the female counterpart to the test area in Austin, which looks like the male sexual organ.
The rides to be booked via the Robotaxi app are not autonomous rides because Tesla has not yet received such a license from the California DMV and has not been able to prove the safety of the Tesla Full Self Driving software.
