The Tesla Robotaxi app has just been made available in the iPhone App-Store. I downloaded it right away and went through the registration process. Tesla owners can use their username and password from the Tesla app to log in. After that, you can put yourself on the waiting list to use the robotaxis. Currently, however, only Austin seems to be available, although the Bay Area has already been mentioned as a test area in the relevant forums.
The app states in its terms of use that there is no safety driver in the driver’s seat, but there is a safety engineer in the passenger seat. Tesla has just received a license in California to conduct tests with a safety driver. This means I now have three robot taxi apps on my smartphone and already have access to Zoox in Las Vegas.
