Zoox Vehicle Spotted in Expanded Test Area in San Francisco

The test areas for Zoox’s driverless cabin scooter have so far been limited to an area around the Strip in Las Vegas, around the Zoox headquarters between several buildings in Foster City, and around the depot and office building on the corner of Division and Bryant Street in San Francisco. I was able to take a test drive in both Foster City and south of Highway 101 in San Francisco.

After launching in Las Vegas for the public, the San Francisco test area also appears to have expanded. The Toyota Highlanders used by Zoox as test vehicles were already driving throughout almost the entire city, and I saw the Zooxie outside the previous test area for the first time in the district north of the 101. I saw the driverless Zooxie in the video on Saturday, September 27, 2025, on 7th Street in San Francisco.

The expansion of the test area could be a sign that Zoox may soon launch its robotaxi service in San Francisco as well.
