Waymo Receives Delivery of Hundreds of Ojai Vehicles

With Waymo expanding from its current 10 metropolitan areas in the US to a dozen more, as well as overseas, vehicles are becoming scarce. Production of the Jaguar iPace, which is currently on the road with the fifth generation of Waymo drivers, was discontinued a year ago. This means that new vehicle platforms are needed. And they now seem to be coming in droves.

Hundreds of vehicles from Chinese manufacturer Zeekr are parked at the pier in the Port of Los Angeles. They will first be transported to Mesa in the US state of Arizona and equipped with the sixth-generation Waymo Driver.

They will then be used as Waymo Ojai robotaxis. The first of these vehicles are already operating driverless in San Francisco, as shown in this video.

Here the images:

These Zeekr vehicles are being equipped with sensor racks in Mesa, Arizona, as were the Jaguar iPaces for the fifth generation of Waymo Driver. Reddit user mingoslingo92 took drone videos of the site. The images clearly show the parking lots with the vehicles ready for conversion. There are 69 vehicles visible, and another 9 at the entrance. In addition, 127 Jaguar iPaces are waiting there to be converted, and 34 are parked in front of the entrance.
