Waymo Via Opens Truck Hub in Texas

Robotrucks are slowly moving from the development to the market maturity phase. Nothing shows that more clearly than the opening of the first logistics hub for fully autonomous trucks, which opened in Lancaster, Texas. Waymo Via has 9 acres of space there, home to the first 20 autonomous trucks.

Due to the rather generous regulations in Texas, this U.S. state has become a center for the development of autonomous trucks, as we have already discussed in the past few days.

The photos of the opening also show a couple of Waymo Jaguar iPace robot cabs. Perhaps another fleet of Waymo robotaxis will soon be on the road here, too. By 2025, it’s expected that the U.S. could have between 25 and 50 robotaxis on the road, up from the five already on the road today.
