Aurora Becomes 37th Company With Californian Test License For Autonomous Cars

Aurora Innovation, a company co-founded by former head of Google’s self-driving division Chris Urmson, is the 37th entity to receive a test license that allows them to drive self-driving vehicles on public roads in California.

Aurora has been testing autonomous vehicles on private roads and is now taking the test to public roads, as the company confirmed to Fortune.

Beside Urmson, the company was co-founded Sterling Anders, formerly director of the semi-autonomous Autopilot program at Tesla, Drew Bagnell, former head of the autonomy and perception team at Uber’s Advanced Technologies Center.

The company’s co-founder Anders has been sued by Tesla due to poaching efforts of talents.
