Tesla’s Autopilot in Model 3 (Version: 2019.24.4 73fb1ab) allows Navigation with Autopilot, which conducts automatic lane changes. Lane changes without a driver’s confirmation (as long as configured in the Autopilot settings) are announced on the touchscreen. Lane changes happen under the following conditions:
- Getting off ramp from a highway;
- When changing from a slower to a faster lane;
- When changing from a passing lane to a slower lane;
Other lane change maneuvers are conducted, when the driver uses the signal lever (fully applying). Here is my video on a drive on CA-99 with those three maneuvers:
