Rear-ended Waymo Spotted

This rear-ended Waymo was spotted on February 26th, 2020 around 1:23pm on Central Expressway under the S Shoreline Blvd overpass in Mountain View.

The rear fender was rear-ended by a Mercedes driver, and impacted the fender, with most visible, the honeycomb LiDAR at the bottom being misaligned. Luckily it looked like nobody was hurt.

Such rear-end collisions are relatively common with autonomous cars, as an analysis of DMV reports has shown. Autonomous cars often drive more carefully at intersections or junctions, and are often hit by impatient human drivers.
