Einride Pod Sets Record On Top Gear Race Track

Tesla, Lucid, Porsche: all electric car manufacturers are striving to have their vehicles drive lap records on race tracks, thus claiming the flag of powerful sedans and sports cars.

Now the Swedish Start-Up Einride has sent its electric truck on the Top Gear track at the Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey, England, on such a lap. The top speed of 85 km/h (53 mph) may not impress at first, but if you take into account that the Einride Pod has no driver’s cab and the ride was autonomous and the Pod is a small truck, things look quite different. And yes, a record of 2 minutes, 44 seconds was also set – easy, considering that it was the first ride of an autonomous truck.
