Chinese startup AutoX has also equipped a truck with a sensor suite on its premises to test its self-driving technology platform on this vehicle platform as well. Here you can see the engine with LiDARs, cameras and GPS.
As far as I know, AutoX has currently no plans to develop autonomous trucks. This truck is a proof-of-concept that the self-driving technology platform developed in-house is also compatible with this very vehicle platform. This is an important element to convince investors and potential partners of the flexibility of the technology.
Furthermore, a so-called ground truth vehicle was spotted, which is necessary for the creation of precise geolocation data for navigation maps.
