Cruise and Semi Truck Collide in San Francisco

On the morning of August 7, a semi-truck and a Cruise robotic cab collided in San Francisco. Venture capitalist Alf Santos observed and recorded the semi truck apparently attempting to make a U-turn (180 degree reversal) from the right lane, while a driverless Cruise without passengers attempted to pass in the left lane. In the process, it was pinned by the trailer and the right rearview mirror was damaged. The collision occurred at the intersection of Stanyan Street and Waller Street right next to Golden Gate Park.

Notes: as it stands, a U-turn at this intersection is not permitted (see the No-U-Turn sign), the intersection is also too narrow for that, even though the street has four lanes. The Cruise had the right of way here, the fault seems to be with the truck driver.
