Baidu Robotaxi Falls Into Construction Pit

A robot taxi belonging to Chinese internet giant Baidu Apollo Go crashed into a construction pit in the Chinese city of Chongqing with a passenger on board. The accident occurred on August 6, 2025, and the passenger was rescued unharmed from the construction pit using a ladder.

A local shop owner reported that the construction site was equipped with barriers and warning signs, but it remained unclear how the vehicle was able to bypass these safety precautions.
