Waymo Begins Tests in Portland

As of today, Waymo is also conducting tests in Portland, Oregon. Initially, these tests will still involve drivers behind the wheel. This means Waymo is now operating in more than 20 cities—11 of which are in active commercial, driverless operation—and, for the first time, in a city located quite far north. Waymo is gradually expanding into cities where snow is a possibility, which presents a unique challenge for autonomous vehicles.
