Just a few days after Swiss President Guy Parmelin and SVP National Council member Franz Grüter took a ride in a Waymo robotaxi in San Francisco, it was revealed that Waymo had registered a limited liability company in Switzerland. Grüter is a strong advocate for the company’s market entry, and the Swiss President also expressed enthusiasm for the technology following his test drive in San Francisco. The Federal Roads Office (ASTRA) welcomes the general interest in Switzerland as a hub for innovation but emphasizes that autonomous vehicles must be at least as safe as human drivers.
Following the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the Iberian Peninsula, Waymo has now established its sixth European branch in Switzerland. It is not yet known when Waymo will begin test drives in Switzerland or exactly where they will take place.
