For two months autonomous Google-Waymo-vehicles of the fourth generation have been driving with riders. The Die Fiat Chrysler Pacifica Minivans have been operating in Phoenix, Arizona since February with locals in tests. Waymo-CEO John Krafcik reported about that in a blog post.
Among the first testers are Ted, Candace and their four children. The cars are shuttling them between work, school, and afternoon programs. The cars cover an area in Phoenix that is twice the size of San Francisco.
Phoenix residents can register for the test program. This way Waymo wants to learn on a broader base how riders use autonomous vehicles Waymo.
Waymo plans to add 500 more cars to its current fleet of 100 Pacifica Minivans.
