Udelv Tests Autonomous Delivery Vehicle

A new startup named Udelv started testing a self-driving delivery vehicle. The Burlingame based company uses a special vehicle design with Lidars and cameras to deliver orders from local supermarkets and grocery stores.

Users can order the groceries on their supermarket’s website, the goods are then loaded in the vehicle, and receive a notification once the vehicle arrived. With the app the customers can then open the compartment with their goods.

Companies such as Nuro.ai, Robomart, or Moby Mart are testing similar concepts. The car has still to have a safety driver on board, who can take over control ion case of an emergency.

Udelv is currently testing deliveries in San Mateo and Burlingame. Residents of those areas can register for testing.
