Yandex, FiveAI, and ZMP Begin Public RoboTaxi Test

Not only Silicon Valley is intensifying its efforts in developing autonomous vehicles, other countries started public tests with passengers as well.

Russian search engine behemoth Yandex is entering the self-driving technology, as Google and Baidu have done before. The company has been working on self-driving cars for a while, but it now starts public tests. In Innopolis, 8000 kilometers east of Moscow, thee company started a commercial robotaxi service shuttling passengers between university, stadium, and apartment complexes..

FiveAI

British startup FiveAI is starting a robotaxi service beginning of 2019. The startup just raised 35 million dollars, and plans to deploy five Ford Fusion-vehicles in the London suburbs Bromley and Croydon. So far FiveAI has only tested on the proving grounds Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire.

ZMP

And in Tokio Japanese venture firm ZMP is running a two weeks trial of its robotaxis with the local taxi company Hinomaru Kotsu. with the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo, the company plans to offer a commercial robotaxi service. Here is also a video report:
