South-Korea-based Mando America Corporation became the 56th company to receive a license for autonomous vehicle by California DMV.
According to its website, the company aims at developing autonomous emergency braking systems. With the fatal crash involving an Uber car a few months ago that included a switched off emergency braking system, this is a necessary feature.
The company, based on Seoul, is part of the larger Halla Group, an automotive supplier for brake, steering, and suspension parts, as well as driver assistance systems. The Halla group has more than 10,000 employees.
