Tesla, Tesla, a company that is barely 15 years old, sold more cars in the fourth quarter of 2018 in the U.S. than all other premium car makers. Already in the third quarter Tesla passed Mercedes-Benz, and now they also caught up with BMW and Lexus.
With 90,000 delivered vehicles in the U.S. in Q4 Tesla is – according to Atherton Research – ahead of BMW, which sold approximately 80,000 vehicles. The BMW figures include all BMW vehicles, compact cars, limousines, and SUVs.
Atherton Research expects that Tesla will stay on the top position for all of 2019, and put pressure on German car makers Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche on their home markets. Despite billions of investments in electric car development, German car makers won’t have an electric vehicle on the market in 2019 that comes even close to be able to compete with Tesla cars.

Mario, that 90k is for worldwide, not just US. Would you please compare apples with apples, please? Also you can easily clame that Tesla and premium does fit in the same sentence, except for pricing… 🙂
