Bell Aerospace and Uber have joined forces to develop a flying taxi. The Bell Nexus, a Vertical-Take-Off-and-Landing (VTOL) air vehicle, comes with six rotors that can tilt by 90 degrees and vertically lift and land the three ton taxi.
The vehicle offers space for four passengers and has a range of 150 miles (240 kilometers). it can fly this distance within an hour. The propulsion is hybrid-electric.
Bell Aerospace has already experience with VTOL vehicles, it developed the V-22 Osprey for the American military with tilting rotors. The prototype presented at the CES is non-operational, first test flights are planned for 2023.
