About two-and-a-half years ago, Uber revealed that it’s been working on self-driving e-bikes and e-scooters, and we have seen demos by others. Now reddit-user PablitoG has published a video on reddit with an autonomous electric scooter moving through a side alley in Mountain View. We can see small support wheels to keep the scooter upright, and it’s making its way on the narrow walkway. There also seems to be a box with sensors, possibly a camera(?), installed right above the front wheel. It still seems to be a pretty raw prototype, exposing the electronic insides in the box. It’s also not clear, if it’s “just” remote controlled, or moves autonomously.
Any idea who’s working on that one?
UPDATE: These are remote-controlled and in future also semi-autonomous scooters, in a cooperation between three companies: Go X, which does the remote operation, Tortoise, which provides the scooters, and the incubator Curiosity Labs.
