Israeli manufacturer Mobileye today announced the start of test drives of an autonomous robot taxi fleet in Paris. Using the Moovit app, employees of the Galeries Lafayette department store chain can order a vehicle. The fleet will be operated jointly with RATP Group, the transport association serving the Paris metropolitan region.
Mobileye has already shown impressive videos of autonomous test drives in Munich, among other places. For the time being, the vehicles will still be in use with safety drivers on board. One interesting detail is that this pictured vehicle appears to be traveling purely with cameras (possibly radar as well), but without LiDAR.
So if that’s not a reason to go to Paris….
