Tesla Semi Truck Coming to Europe

Tesla not only announced that it would be exhibiting at the IAA Transportation trade show in Hanover, taking place September 15–20, but also that it would be revealing the specifications and details regarding the European launch of the Tesla Semi truck.

Although Tesla had already showcased a Semi truck at the exhibition in 2024, it was not available for purchase by European trucking companies, nor had any details about the launch been announced.

But now things seem to be getting serious. Tesla faces the challenge of having to adapt the vehicle to European regulations and registration requirements. European tractor-trailers are shorter due to length restrictions, and it is unclear how—or even if—the Tesla Semi Truck will need to be redesigned for Europe. Furthermore, unlike in the U.S., the competitive landscape in Europe is already saturated with electric trucks, making competition fiercer.

In any case, Tesla now appears to be preparing Full Self-Driving for the Semi truck in the U.S. as well, as evidenced by increasing sightings of Semi trucks equipped with lidar sensor arrays.
