Swedish startup Einride will be testing an autonomous delivery van with the supermarket chain Lidl. The electric T-Pods will be driving in the region of Halmstad, as reported by the Swedish magazine Computer Sweden. Those vehicles with a range of 200 kilometers will be driving autonomously on highways and country roads, on all other roads a human driver will take over.
Other manufactures are planning to bring the whole store to the customers. Armada, a startup founded by the online delivery service veteran Ali Ahmed plans to unveil their autonomously driving grocery pod at the CES in January in Las Vegas. This pod will bring the grocery store on demand to the customer’s address.
Moby, a startup from Shanghai, is also planning to launch an autonomously driving store on wheels.
