Not one, but two young gents with such a backpack did I see today on Lytton Avenue in downtown Palo Alto. The backpack consisted of a 3660 degree camera array, two Velodyne Puck lidars, and a CPU and memory bank with batteries.
Both were from Google Street View (I asked them) and apparently they are right now mapping the area by walking. Maybe you will see me soon on Street View-pictures sitting at the café.
I didn’t even have to get up, but could remain seated outside the Mademoiselle Colette and enjoy my Strawberry pastry and macchiato.
