Apple Car in Rain

This week everyone was wondering why Apple’s efforts in developing autonomous vehicles are seeming so bad with that many disengagements. And now I encounter one of their cars on the road.

Apple is not bothered by criticism and ridicule. And especially drives in rainy weather are interesting, because the opinion dominates that self-driving cars are just cars for sunny weather and the first glimpse of a cloud keeps them stalled. Well yes, rain and snow influence the sensors, but you can be certain that the rapid development of sensors and algorithms will overcome those obstacles. That’s why seeing self-driving cars in rainy weather is exciting.

Here a two-minutes drive behind one of the Apple cars.

Note: I wasn’t able to see whether the car is in autonomous or manual mode.
