Byton: The Remains Of A Once Hopeful Electric Vehicle Startup

It has now been a year since Byton had to close its doors and lay off almost all of its employees. The company had started with several vehicle concepts that were still presented at CES 2019 and 2020, of which the dashboards with large screens were particularly convincing. But then Corona struck. And not much remained.

The Santa Clara office is abandoned, and only the company sign and a jacked-up vehicle frame in the parking lot remind us of the startup. No new tenants have been found yet either. Here’s a quick look at what’s left.
